Do not use a plastic tarp to cover your bike. It needs something that will "breathe". No cover is better than a plastic cover in a garage.
The "start every two weeks" procedure works better for HD's. If allowed to sit for long periods of time the oil leaks past the check valve in the oil pump and when you start the engine the oil gets pumped out the overflow and all over the right side of the engine, your leg, the floor, etc.
Tell your little Suzi to sleep tight this winter, you'll wake her in the spring.
